Story of my failure…

A few months back I applied for a writing gig

A famous content creator was offering a live course on writing for free. I opened their application form with lots of doubts. The length of the form was even more demoralizing.

The first thought that crossed my mind was “I don't want to spend so much time on something. I know I'm not gonna get it”.

1 week later somehow I managed to apply. To my surprise, I got a call back for further discussion with their team.

I interacted with a copywriter from Bangalore and she seemed impressed with me.

Here I made my hopes high…

I was put on their waitlist and soon after I received the rejection email. I was heartbroken and didn't want to write for months.

3 things I learned because of this incident →

  1. You need to ensure you have the right source of motivation. If you fail to do so then you are easily distracted.

I completely lost motivation and until I got it I stopped writing. Don't let that happen to you.

2. Failures will be materialized into success in one or the other way.

Things don't go as planned but things you learn on the way stay with you forever.

I had the best interaction with the copywriter and I’ll never forget the compliment she gave me. Also, I managed to write a blog post out of it.

3. Your finish line should not be a fixed point in space but a horizon of possibilities — Someday is Today by Matthew Dicks

In the book Someday Is Today, Matthew Dicks wrote that he said yes to a lot of things when he had zero experience with them. Some were successful and some failed. But the experiences gave him something meaningful always which he later used in his work and life.

My failure caused a feeling that writing wasn't my cup of tea. But I forgot that getting into that course wasn't my goal at all. Manier times we measure our success and failure based on whether we achieve certain things.

But we forget “Life is an ocean of endless possibilities”.

You never know if your failure at one thing will lead you to success in some other area of your life.
